All Workers Must Be Covered by BPJS, Deputy Mayor Indra: Supervision by Sub-district Heads and Village Heads is Mandatory

The Gorontalo City Government continues to strengthen social security protection for workers in its region. This commitment was emphasized during the socialization of the Gorontalo Mayor's Instruction regarding mandatory worker registration for the Employment Social Security Program, held at the Damhil Hotel Ballroom on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).This activity was also attended by the Head of the Gorontalo Branch of BPJS Employment, the Head of the Manpower, Cooperatives and SMEs Service, Mutakkin Adam and a number of officials within the Gorontalo City Government. The socialization was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Gorontalo, Indra Gobel, who represented the Mayor. This activity targeted businesses, including MSMEs, to immediately register their workers for the state-guaranteed protection program. In his remarks, Deputy Mayor Indra emphasized that social security protection is a legal mandate that must be complied with by all employers. According to him, this step is not merely an administrative formality, but rather a concrete manifestation of the government's presence in providing a sense of security for workers."This Employment Social Security Program is a worker's right, allowing them to work in peace. If we can enjoy that peace of mind, our workforce productivity will automatically increase," said Indra. He also instructed all sub-district heads and village heads in the Gorontalo City area to be proactive in ensuring that every business actor in their respective areas has fulfilled these obligations.According to him, no worker's rights should be neglected, whether formal workers or informal workers or non-wage earners."I ask the sub-district heads and village heads to ensure that all businesses in their areas protect their workers. This is concrete evidence of the City Government's support in providing protection for the community," he stressed.Through Mayoral Instruction Number 560/Disnakerkop, the government hopes that the coverage of social security participation in Gorontalo City can increase significantly, so that the welfare of workers will be more assured in the future.
