Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital Clarifies Allegations of Negligence in Handling BPJS Patients

The management of Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital in Gorontalo City has issued an official clarification regarding reports alleging negligence in the treatment of a BPJS patient, resulting in his death. This clarification follows the circulation of a story titled "Aloei Saboe Hospital in Gorontalo City Allegedly Negligent, BPJS Patient Dies After Receiving Inadequate Treatment."In a press conference held on May 26, 2025, Dr. Budi Kaharu, as Secretary of the RSAS Medical Committee, explained that the patient with the initials OT (27 years old), had undergone treatment at Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital twice. The first treatment took place from April 14 to 22, 2025, by Dr. Leonard Kamoli, Sp. PD, an internal medicine specialist. Based on laboratory results, the patient was diagnosed with a serious illness related to the immune system, but remained in stable condition. "A stable condition means that the patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, and consciousness, are still within normal limits, although physical activity is limited due to the disease," said Dr. Budi. After nine days of treatment in the regular ward, the patient was allowed to go home and was advised to go to the polyclinic for a check-up for outpatient treatment. For the second treatment, the patient was referred from Otanaha Hospital to Aloei Saboe Hospital on May 6, 2025, and was treated by the same doctor until May 17, 2025. Since being admitted to the hospital, the patient received initial treatment in the emergency room, with stable vital signs, and was subsequently transferred to a regular ward. Throughout the 12 days of treatment, the patient maintained stable vital signs. Treatment focused on managing pain and complications from the disease."The patient's treatment room selection was carried out in accordance with applicable medical procedures, both on the first and second visits. The patient was not transferred to the ICU because there was no medical indication. ICU care is only indicated for critically ill patients with unstable vital signs," said Dr. Budi. After 12 days of treatment, the patient was discharged in stable condition, with the recommendation to continue outpatient follow-up at the outpatient clinic and to prepare for a referral. On May 20, 2025, the patient underwent a follow-up at the RSAS outpatient clinic and received a referral letter to Kandow General Hospital in Manado, which offers more comprehensive facilities and medications. The management of Aloei Saboe Regional Hospital confirmed that all treatment was carried out in accordance with standard medical procedures by professional and competent doctors."We deeply regret the public release of incomplete information. Our hospital is always committed to providing the best possible service to all patients, including BPJS participants," concluded Dr. Budi.
