The Population Control, Family Planning, Women's Empowerment, and Child Protection Agency (DPPKBP3A) of Gorontalo City held a coordination meeting (Rakor) on accelerating stunting reduction together with the second semester stunting reduction acceleration team (TPPS) at the Gorontalo City level, Thursday (12/12/2024) at the Grand Q Hotel. The coordination meeting was officially opened by the Acting Regional Secretary of Gorontalo City, represented by the Acting Assistant 3 of the Gorontalo City Regional Secretariat, Ben Idrus and the Acting Chairperson of the TP.PKK of Gorontalo City, Suharti Madjid Daud, as well as parties involved in accelerating stunting reduction. According to the Head of DPPKBP3A, Eladona Sidiki, the objectives of this coordination meeting are fivefold. First, she said, reducing the prevalence of stunting. Second, improving the quality of family life. "Fourth, ensuring adequate nutritional intake, improving parenting patterns, and finally, improving access and quality of services," explained Eladona. In the same place, Acting Assistant 3 of the Gorontalo City Regional Secretariat, Ben Idrus, stated that the Gorontalo City Government remains committed to accelerating the reduction of stunting. He stated that stunting is one of the strategic national issues that must be taken seriously by the regional government. To accelerate the handling of stunting, Ben continued, his party has undertaken various efforts. For example, creating regulations that will serve as the basis for combating stunting. "Of course, we are based on regulations from the central government. The government is targeting a 14 percent reduction in stunting prevalence by 2024," Ben stated. Ben said that based on data and reports he received from the DPPKBP3A, the stunting rate in Gorontalo City is relatively good. "I hope that interventions related to stunting will continue to be encouraged. I ask the sub-district heads and existing stakeholders, such as the Community Health Centers, to work together massively regarding this stunting," Ben said. Ben also said that there are five pillars that the regional government must implement to accelerate stunting reduction in Gorontalo City. "The Head of the Office also explained earlier that there are 5 steps, namely national commitment down to the regional level, secondly implementing a national campaign and communication of behavior change, increasing the convergence of specific interventions and sensitive interventions, increasing food and nutrition security, and strengthening and developing systems, data, information, research and innovation," explained Ben. The Acting Assistant 3 is confident that this goal will be successful if all parties coordinate and work together to commit to reducing stunting rates in Gorontalo City. "Coordination of all parties is important for us to be able to reduce stunting rates in Gorontalo City, I am sure this will be successful," Ben concluded his remarks that morning. On the sidelines of the activity, there was also the distribution of assistance for toddler family development facilities (BKB) kits and supporting facilities for MOP family planning services in health facilities in the form of no-scalpel vasectomy (VTP).
