The Head of the Regional Research and Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Gorontalo City, Meidy Novita Silangen, again led a working visit to the Therapeutic Feeding Center (TFC), Friday (18/7/2025). This visit is part of an effort to strengthen the handling of stunting cases, which have recently increased in Gorontalo City."Today is our second visit as heads of the stunting management team. We frequently monitor developments in stunting cases, especially after receiving information from Dumbo Raya," said Meidy. He explained that, based on data from the Indonesian Nutrition Survey (SGI), the number of stunting cases in Gorontalo City was recorded at 419 cases, or around 3.93 percent. However, data from the BPPG shows a higher figure, reaching 8 percent. He said this discrepancy is a serious concern for his team."We are still investigating the causes of the increase in stunting cases in Gorontalo City. We have also discussed making monitoring activities like this routine," he said.As a follow-up, said Meydi, Bapppeda together with related parties will conduct routine data collection every Friday, especially for families in decile 1. This data collection will not only focus on stunting cases. Meydi stated that it will also cover other diseases such as dengue fever, tuberculosis (TB), and employment-related data."That way, we can report more comprehensive conditions to the leadership," added Meidy. This step is expected to strengthen government intervention in reducing stunting rates and improving public health in Gorontalo City.
