Torchlight Parade and 2,026 Cup Sweet Potato Kolak Festival Enliven Nuzulul Qur'an Night in Molosipat W

The commemoration of the night of Nuzulul Qur'an in Molosipat W Village, West Kota District, took place lively, Sunday (8/3/2026) evening. Hundreds of residents and youth took to the streets to participate in the Torch Parade combined with the Sweet Potato Kolak Festival, an annual tradition initiated by Young Molosipat W.The light of torches burning along the streets creates a religious and festive atmosphere. The people who attended not only watched the parade, but also enjoyed the sweet potato kolak which was distributed free of charge by the committee and local residents. The Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Guntur Wantu, said that the activity had become an annual agenda which was now entering its fifth year of implementation. This year, the torch relay was attended by various elements of society, ranging from religious study groups, TPQ students from all over Kota Barat District, to elementary and junior high school students and youth groups from several areas in Kota Barat.According to him, the activities carried out by his party aim to rekindle religious spirit while introducing traditional values to the younger generation."Our main goal is to rebuild a culture that has a positive impact on the younger generation. This torchlight parade symbolizes the legacy of early Muslims who flocked to the mosque in the darkness, carrying torches to welcome the light of the Quran," said Guntur.Besides the torchlight parade, the Sweet Potato Kolak Festival was the main attraction. The committee prepared 2,026 cups of sweet potato kolak, which were distributed free of charge to the public. This number is adjusted to the number of years the activity is held as a symbol of togetherness and the tradition of sharing during the month of Ramadan."The logistics for this sweet potato kolak come purely from the enthusiasm of the residents of Molosipat WE. Everyone has the right to provide it and anyone passing by is welcome to pick it up at the checkpoints we have provided along the road," he added. This activity received attention from the Gorontalo City Government. Previously, the committee had held an audience with the Deputy Mayor of Gorontalo, Indra Gobel, who expressed his support for the youth initiative in reviving religious traditions in the community.Guntur hopes that the Torch Parade and Sweet Potato Kolak Festival can continue to be held annually and develop into a larger cultural and religious agenda in Gorontalo City."We hope that in the future, this festival can be even more massive and involve more participants. We want to demonstrate that the collaboration between tradition, the spirit of sharing, and religious propagation can be a powerful force for character building among young people in our region," he concluded optimistically.
